Some Things I Like

Some things I like about spring:

1.  The pale, sweet colors:
Prunus 'Okame'
'Okame' cherry blooming weeks late this year

2. Rich vibrant colors, especially reds and greens:
Redtwig dogwod leafing out in Christmas red + green
Sedum spurium 'Red Carpet'.  It's only this deep red in early spring

3. Husbands who do major garden projects:
A new border is laid out
The new border is a little snake-like.  Need to go plant shopping and fill it up!

5. Working all day outside in the garden, and then coming in for a cat nap after.
Mmm?  Did you finish digging?
These are some of the things I like about spring.

  1. At this point in his life my husband seems to disagree with #3 and is very much in agreement with #5! Lovely new garden bed you have there. I'm sure you'll enjoy filling it up!

  2. Is that cat as lazy as he looks? :) Our Tommy is lazy but a great snuggler.

    Have fun plant shopping!

  3. Oh, the pale, sweet colours! Still a little way away here but most anticipated. Enjoy! :)

  4. I especially like the part about the Husband working in the garden. I have one of those. It is like having a fairy godfather. The most difficult work is magically done. We are certainly blessed. Those reds and greens do lift the spirits at this time of year.

  5. I also like husbands who help in the garden. :) Your Siamese is gorgeous...I have two. And your garden is looking very nice.

  6. Another vote for Helping Husbands. I don't know what I would do without one. I guess I'd just have flats and flats of pansies.

    Have a happy Easter... :-)

  9. I love just about everything about spring! How wonderful that your husband helped with the new border, and how exciting to have a new place to plant. I had to laugh at Cat's comment--my husband votes for #5, too:) As for me, I've always said if there is such a thing as reincarnation, I want to come back in my next life as a cat:)

  10. You are all happy about the spring and mild temperatures and down here in Texas we are facing daily temperatures in the upper 80's to the mid 90's and had no rain for several weeks.
As much as I love gardening and working in my garden, the heat plus the high humidity sometimes makes me looking like the cat in your picture. :)
Thank God, I also have an understanding hubby who helps me keeping up on my garden.
    Regards and Happy Gardening

  11. Rose, I think cat is the highest form you can get reincarnated into... at least both of our Siamese think so.

PJ, I long for something to happen in spring, it takes so long up here to even get going. But I don't want your Texas heat! I guess it's all a trade off.

  12. So many wonderful 'likes' that I share here. Particularly like husbands willing to help out (mine will be put to the test next week when new beds will be dug!) and cats that know how to have a good relaxing nap.
